Substance Addiction Addiction Issues

According to the DSM-5, Substance Use Disorder is a spectrum on which addiction falls. It can be in the form of compulsive drug seeking, continued drug use despite harmful consequences, and long-lasting changes in the brain. Anyone can become addicted to prescription or illicit drugs, stimulants, depressant, hallucinogens, nicotine and alcohol through frequent use and developing drug dependence as a maladaptive way of coping with difficulties, usually underlying trauma.

Process Addiction

Anyone can also become addicted to certain unhealthy and problematic behaviours and habits such as gambling, sex, love addiction, gaming, pornography, food, exercise and shopping addiction. A person usually experiences a loss of control due to any of those behaviours which may also interfere with day-to-day life. A person's physical and mental health and personal relationships become negatively impacted as a result.
